Digistics, Waterfall — Refurbishment & Ongoing Maintenance
Waterfall, Gauteng | 2018 – present
I built these structures for Digistics in the first place — poles set and frames erected over a parking area that was still under construction. Not long after, they were taken down and left lying on the ground — frames, poles and stairs in a heap among the rubble. The steel was still good. I stripped it back, repainted it, re-erected the full run and fitted new nets. Since then I have been back on site regularly: annual inspections, retensioning, and repairs to their older structures as they have needed it. Six years on they are still standing and still doing their job.

The Cavaleros Group — Refurbishment & Net Replacement
Bedfordview, Gauteng | 2026
A long-standing client with parking across Blocks A to F, five of which carry shadeports. The original netting had reached the end of its life — faded, pulling away from the cables, and letting more sun through than it stopped. The steel told a different story: sound underneath, and worth keeping. I stripped the old nets off, took the frames back to bare steel and repainted them, then fitted new charcoal Z25 across the full run and re-tensioned every bay. The structures they already had, given another decade.

Komatsu — Cantilever Shade Port Installation
Meadowdale, Gauteng | 2025
Komatsu's Meadowdale site carries well over 250 parking spaces. I was brought in to cover one section of it — seven new cantilever structures put up in a single run, with blue steel and silver netting to match their corporate colours. The bays had to stay usable while we worked, so the poles went in and the frames came together section by section.
- Configuration
- Cantilever — 7 structures
- Netting
- Knittex Z25 Blue and Silver

Residential Cantilever Refit
Germiston, Gauteng | 2025
A driveway shade port at a private home — two existing structures side by side, and the owner wanted them covered as one. That meant a single net fitted across both frames with no break down the middle, which is harder than it sounds: the tension has to come out even across two structures that were never built to work together. The steel came back to battleship grey and the new charcoal net went on over the full width.
- Configuration
- Two existing structures — single net across both
- Steel
- Repainted battleship grey
- Netting
- Knittex Z25 Charcoal

GHH Mining Machines — Net Replacement & Structure Repair
Boksburg, Gauteng | 2026
A returning client. The netting over their staff and visitor parking had come to the end of its life — stretched, sagging, and no longer doing much of a job. Before anything new went on, I went over the steel and repaired what needed repairing. Then the old nets came off and new blue netting went on across the full run. Blue is their corporate colour, and it has lifted the whole yard.
- Configuration
- Existing four-post structures — repaired and refitted
- Steel
- Original frames, repaired where needed
- Netting
- Knittex Z25 Blue (full replacement)

Insimbi Alloy — Industrial Shade Port
Wadeville, Gauteng | 2025
A full cantilever shade port system for Insimbi Alloy's main facility. The brief was to cover a large staff and visitor parking area along the building line without obstructing the entrance or loading zones. The result is a continuous row of cantilever structures — orange Knittex netting to match the brand — poles in concrete and steel painted to complement the brick facade.
- Configuration
- Cantilever row — 8 bays
- Steel
- Mild steel, galv-shine paint finish
- Netting
- Knittex Z25 Orange

CMH West Rand — Net Replacement
West Rand, Gauteng | 2025
CMH's West Rand dealership had an existing shade port system covering a large display lot. The netting had reached end of life — fraying, UV-degraded, and letting through more sun than it blocked. The steel frames were assessed and found to be in good condition, so I replaced the netting across the full lot without touching the structure. New Knittex Z25 black netting, re-stitched and re-tensioned properly.
- Configuration
- Four-post shade port (existing frames retained)
- Steel
- Existing — assessed, no structural repairs needed
- Netting
- Knittex Z25 Black (full replacement)
- Delivered
